Acting

Rolling tuition in the fundamental tools and practices for progressive and dynamic performance.

Through varying explorative exercises, practice study, problem solving and self expression we shape our aspiring actors to be the best possible versions of themselves with a full and varied skillset that is easily transferable into other aspects of their lives as well as enhancing their progression during their time with us at academy.

Each term students explore weekly exercises, a themed project and various smaller projects to enhance and develop targeted skillsets on a rolling, progressive course directive.

Flexibility -

We mean this quite literally. Through movement, stretch and breathing exercises we empower our students to take control of their instruments; their bodies and their voices!

We work with students to fine tune their abilities giving them scope to push their own personal development and enhance their potential as both performers and active members of their peer groups.

Communication, teamwork & leadership -

Through vocal studies & we look affective ways of communicating with others. Vocal warm ups empower students to hone their potential and take that practice into their own.

Through text analysis we enable students to look deeper into literacy and storytelling both intellectually and emotionally. Contextualising material and analysing emotive subtext can be a useful skill not only as an actor, but as a team player or group leader.

Dynamic thinking -

An important and transferable skill that often sets creatives apart from others. The ability to think outside of the box and problem solve in a creative and often abstract way.

We explore dynamic thinking through safe and varying exercises, giving students the opportunity to work through

all elements of the creative process and effectively deliver

their own objectives.

Technical skills:

As well as core skills we give students the ability to explore a variety of practical techniques reflective of theatrical and stage performance practices.

Mask work, Puppetry, Physical Theatre, Mime, Poetry & Spoken Word, Script work, Shakespeare and contemporary literature to name a few.

Module objectives:

Our aim is to create resilient, flexible and creatively charged individuals who display qualities desirable in all elements of their progression - be it through creative mediums or academic study.

"My acting training gave me the freedom to be myself on a whole new level We want our students to do the same. " - Holly Williams, Creative director
